Sony Xperia Z2 Concept

Sony is planning to launch a new refreshed flagship code named "Sirius" in next month at MWC 2014. The leaked images and UI shows Sony is improved a lot in few areas, specially the display. We starting to see Sony is using IPS panels for the new flagships which is good news for Sony fans since they were having issues with viewing angle. For some reasons i don't think Sony will name this D6503 "Sirius" as Xperia Z2, So my concept is about the H2 flagship of Sony which is usually unveiled at IFA  around September. Xperia Z2 is a fresh flagship that makes Sony to get close to that "One Sony" strategy.

Xperia Z2 features a 5.25" 2K (1440x2560) resolution screen with a 560 ppi pixel density. The screen technology used for the concept is IPS Triluminos along with the Sony's picture engine X-Reality for Mobile. Screen is protected by a shatterproof sheet baked on to a gorilla glass 3. It's a fact that human eye can't differentiate pixel densities over 320ppi from a normal viewing distance, so why we need a 2K screen on a smartphone? Few factors have to be concerned, since the device is capable of 4K video record and playback, it helps to render the video more easily on a 2K screen. other factor is the Competition in the Market. Some folks want the best of available hardware on their phone despite the  battery consumption. It's true 2K screen will suck the battery juice more quickly when compared to a similar size 1080p screen. finally i have decide to go with a 2K screen although 1080p is enough for my personal taste.

Front side features dual Stereo speakers , we have seen D6503 sirius also features this kind of dual speakers. Sony's S-Force sound engine is taking care of the sound and music from the physical stereo speakers while a YAMAHA Audio Amplifier chip enhance the Audio quality of the phone. Now you might wonder why i haven't thought of Sony's own Walkman chips like S-Master MX , the reason is Sony's officials said currently they have no plans to implement the S-Master series audio chips on Xperia handsets due to heating issues and power consumption.

Under the hood Xperia Z2 is powered by the Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 805 SoC along with four Krait 450 cores clocking at 2.5Ghz. This particular chip includes the new Adreno 420 GPU with many visual graphic features. 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory is present in the concept. internal storage is  a key factor since 4K videos takes lot space in the storage. Therefore Z2 is compatible with micro SD cards up to 128GB.

A new camera is resent in the Z2 , a successor to the camera of Z1, the Exmor RS sensor size is increased to 1/2.0 and module supports up to 23 Mega Pixels. a Xenon flash is added to deliver lighting for imaging while the LED flash is for video recording in low light conditions. The Z2 camera is capable of recording 4K videos and 120fps 1080p/720p slow motion videos as well.

We have seen a lot OEM's try to enhance the security of their devices by bringing various security measures. Finger print scanners are getting common now on smartphones. All the smartphones currently in the market features a physical bio-metric sensor to scan the fingerprints, but Sony Xperia Z2 brings a new way of scanning fingerprints. If your memory is good ,you might remember Sony filed a patent in 2012 showing finger print scanning using the screen. click here to read more about that patent

Another great feature of Z2 is the wireless charging option. This was another patent filed by Sony showing fully charging the battery in a less time period. approximately around an hour. Click here to read more about Sony's upcoming fast wireless charging technology.

Xperia Z2 is coming with the PlayStation Dualshock 4 compatible allowing you to use the new PlayStation 4 console game on Z2.

Finally Xperia Z2 runs Android kitkat out of the box which supposed to introduce new software features like

*Glove mode
*Adjustable white balance
*Smart backlight control – similar to Samsung’s Smart Stay, the screen will stay on as long as you look at it
*Double tap to wake up the screen
*Built-in answering machine in the dialer
*Choice between regular launcher and simple launcher with large fonts and simpler design
*Audio Accessories functionality – presumably, users will be able to choose between several paired headsets, mics, and other accessories
*USB DAC support
*Notifications dropdown customization options
*The ability to choose the default SMS app
*Printing option
*What’s New – what looks like an app that taps into Sony’s media properties, accessible with a swipe up from the base of the screen, just like Google Now.
*White icons and transparent status bar
*The ability to close all apps in Recent Apps

The above mentioned Android features were already leaked from upcoming flagship "Sirius"
